Welcome Guides (Willkommenslotsen) – Link between apprenticeship seekers and skilled crafts businesses
The programme with the modules »Tailored Placement« and »Welcome Guides« supports companies in securing their skilled labour needs.
Support for companies to fill apprenticeship positions with refugees and to integrate foreign skilled workers
With the »Welcome Guides« project, our member businesses can get support to recruit trainees from among refugees and asylum seekers, as many refugees currently living in Germany are of working age or will reach it in the coming years.

They also advise on funding and support options for businesses and refugees. They also raise companies’ awareness of cultural differences to facilitate the successful integration of refugees. Further services include advice on legal frameworks, help with administrative matters at authorities, and support with issues during employment.
Pre-selection of applicants
The Welcome Guides draw up a precise requirement profile for the apprenticeship to be filled. To make hiring easier for companies, preliminary interviews are held with refugees to familiarise them with training occupations and requirements.
The Welcome Guides carry out a pre-selection and check the current residence status and language skills. Where appropriate prior education exists, our »Recognition of Foreign Qualifications« office issues a recognition decision for the vocational qualification. These skilled workers are also placed with companies by the Welcome Guides.
Every Thursday, 8:30–15:00, an open consultation takes place at the Leipzig House of Skilled Crafts, Dresdner Straße 11/13. Contact person: Tanja Grobitzsch.
